Counselling Mental Health

Located in Perth south. Depression, anxiety children. Mental health plan

alone
What is it like, there on your edge?
a place of aloneness and fear
knowing that somehow you must find a way
to any place better than there.
Maybe you’ve tried to work it all out
tossed it round and around in your mind
looked for a path that would take you away
confusion is all you could find.
I have not trod your exact same path
everyone’s edge is unique
won’t try to pretend that I know how you feel
but I know the relief that you seek.
Over the years I have striven to find
how to help you untangle your mind
to see your way to a much safer path
where you can be whole, and smile and laugh.
Look away from the edge
look up, look around
for what you seek will surely be found
the strength is within you; you just need a hand
and on more sure ground you can stand.

  • “There are many barriers to overcome in order to go and see a counsellor. It can be an incredibly brave thing to do. There are many unknowns. What will be uncovered? What will it say about me? Will I be able to deal with it and especially know what to do about it?  Shouldn’t I have been able to deal with this on my own?   There is a little magic in the counselling process. But all magic has an explanation. Some of this magic exists in the simple fact that a problem shared is a problem halved. Some is about human nature and how an empathetic interaction validates us and makes us feel better about ourselves. Some of the magic of the counselling process is rooted in well-established theories about humans and the way we interact and impact on each other.   Much of the ‘magic’, however, exists in your willingness to take the risk and really seek an answer to the issue which is troubling you. It is the first step, and the most important one.”
